Rio de Janeiro Community
Round Table and Breakfast

On Thursday, June 27th, 2019, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the first Round Table organized by the The SGM Hub, Gastromotiva, took place and brought together the local Social Gastronomy community. The Hub is co-coordinating eight Round Table events around Brazil using a methodology developed in Switzerland by our partner, Patrick Honauer.

The objective of these encounters is to understand the needs of the community and how they see gastronomy as a tool to solve problems in the region. The Hub will be physically present in three of the breakfasts and five of them will be lead by community members in their respective regions.

The outcomes of the round tables will be brought later this year to Rio, for the ColaborAmerica event in November and discussed democratically and collaboratively. The idea is to, then, create a  Manifesto and take it to Brazilian decision-makers from both governmental and private spheres. Through a “learning by doing” philosophy, the ambitious aim is also for the Brazilian Social Gastronomy community to have, by the end of the year, a cohesive and concrete vision with a measurable mission for collective impact.

In addition, a Toolkit will be created for other communities around the world to replicate.
